Ulah the Jungle Princess (played by Dorothy Lamour) was having a swell time in Hollywood until Paramount loaned her Great White Hunter (Ray Milland) to Fox, to co-star with Sonja Henie.
“Have a nice day with the Ice Princess,” Ulah said, sulking.
“Look, my little she-devil,” Ray Milland said, “I’ll bet you can get loaned to Fox, too. Let’s have a cocktail party and invite Mr. Zanuck.”
Ulah was delighted. In a flash she decided to wear this outfit…a hint of the tropics, but more sophisticated than her usual sarong. A true movie-star feel.
It was some party. You could tell Mr. Zanuck approved by the angle of his cigar. Ulah got a part in Johnny Apollo. And everybody had great fun when John Barrymore mistook her pet tiger for a rug.
