Yorkshire Herringbone Trouser
The fabric merchant is telling me this and that about how the Romans had their way with herringbone before the Empire fell and how the pattern faded into obscurity for a few hundred years or so until it reappeared on the roof design of the Duomo in Florence. Soon, it was all the rage again.
Fascinating stuff but, admittedly, I missed a few details, distracted as I was by the hand feel. The luxe softness, the drape. For a weave that came back to life by way of architecture, the effect here is nothing short of extravagant.
On you, utterly devastating.
