Expedition Sweater
Details
The Hero of the Lhotse Face.
George Lowe didn’t become a hero by reaching the summit of Everest before anyone else. He became one (in part) by making it possible for his good friend Edmund Hillary and sherpa Tenzing Norgay to plant the flag.
Without an oxygen tank, he carved the steps to the final camp, 1000 feet below the summit. Even before that, he cut the route up Lhotse Face, the formidable 3,690-foot glacial wall that any climber bound for South Col must scale.
Hero stuff.
Lowe accomplished many feats of daring and resilience in his lifetime, more than we can list here.
So we made a sweater to stand in for all the rest.
The Expedition Sweater
(No. 7086). Thick five-gauge wool with a polished, lustrous texture. We took a luxury Italian yarn normally used for lightweight sweaters and plied the yarn to a heavy gauge, making it as robust as a cold-weather jacket but with a light and supple feel of cashmere. Rollneck. Rib knit at neck, cuff, and hem. The broad stripe is inspired by submariner’s rollnecks worn by George Lowe.
Comfortable, posh, substantial. Expedition-worthy. Imported.
