JP Rally Racing Pant

In the late ‘50 into the ‘60s, racing enthusiasts passed around a story that never gained much traction, despite its logic on the surface.

The theory went something like this... If a car spun off the track and was wrapped in a cloud of dust, the driver could get his bearings by locking in on the offset racing stripe or a pair of wider stripes in his line of sight. By finding the stripes, he could tell which way the car was aimed.

Urban legend or fact? Can’t say for sure.

Here’s something I do know. These pants were based on the race-ready utilitarian gear worn by racing car drivers in the 1950s, developed here in 100% cotton drywax to masterfully repel water and dirt.
