The Stendhal Syndrome.
Exposure to a large amount of art in a single place (named after the French writer Stendhal who suffered from it) is a psychosomatic illness that causes rapid heartbeat, dizziness, confusion and even hallucinations.
Strangely enough, my friend Jacques, whom I was with at Grand Palais in Paris for the Monet exhibition, featuring over 200 of the master’s paintings, was oddly unaffected.
But started breathing irregularly when he saw this dress in hot pink later on my invaluable French fashion maven, Monique.
Stendhal Dress (No. 3270). A flowing beautiful thing in 49% silk and 51% cotton. Carefully constructed V-neck bodice gathers from waist. Bias cut, upper calf length skirt creates movement and more than a little interest. Bra keepers. Fully lined in cotton. Tie details at just the right spots.
