Embroidered Velvet Bolero
Our Heroine in Velvet.
Seville. Teatro Lope de Vega. Opening night of Tosca.
I notice her in her seat, stage right, in one of the lower boxes.
During the ovation, I have a chance to take in her ensemble. She wears this elaborately-embroidered bolero (velvet, black, gold) over a little black dress, to devastating effect.
She’s not on stage, but her star power is undeniable.
I expect we’ll see the jacket on our heroine again, in an array of scenarios.
Tomorrow morning, perhaps (she took the overnight to Paris), on the Rue Montorgueil with jeans and a white tee. Ballet flats. Sunglasses.
Or (my favorite) topping off a long, sweeping taffeta skirt, the kind a breeze loves to love. Promenading through the Bois du Boulogne like it’s 1911 and there’s every chance to end up in a Jacques-Henri Lartigue gelatin silver print. (She would have.)
You picture it, too, don’t you?
Embroidered Velvet Bolero (No. J7042). Detailed craftsmanship abounds in this cotton velvet bolero-style jacket with intricate gold embroidered trim. Small Mandarin collar. Hook and eye closure. Imported.
