Sofia Kovalevskaya (brilliant work on rotation of bodies) could make very cogent observations on its motion.
You don’t have to be a famous woman mathematician to appreciate this skirt, however. All you have to be is a woman.
The 140” sweep is breathtaking. The 18 stitched-down pleats at the top create contrast and flare. The large volume of silk cotton taffeta whispers as you approach. A romantic, evocative sound.
Mme du Châtelet (translated Newton, investigated propagation of fire) might be intrigued by that.
