Product Details

The (New) Age of Sail.

They’ll see you at parties from Newburyport to Nantucket this season, wearing this as often as not.

You like it because it has some historical heft (we recreated it from 1920s and '30s sailing sweaters) but you haven’t already seen it everywhere. It’s not trending and you’re not wearing what the next guy has.

We made it from from pure cotton uneven budding yarn to give it a beautiful, luxurious texture. We think you’ll like that, too.

Whether you prefer freshwater or saltwater, single mast or schooner, cutter or ketch.

Breton Stripe Sailing Sweater (No. J8205). Classic sailing sweater inspired by sailing sweaters of the 1920s and ‘30s. In bold navy and cream Breton stripes, it’s a sweater with a history that stretches all the way back to the Golden Age of Sail. The stripes are good-looking, of course, but were originally designed to make it easier to spot and rescue a sailor if he fell overboard. Polo neck with one fish eye urea button. Distinguished laydown rib collar, cuffs, and hem. Boxy, loose fit. Imported.

*Note about sizing for this item: Women should plan to order down one size: i.e. If you wear a women's Small, order XS; if you wear a women's Medium, order a S, etc.
