The Marguerite Dress
Everything in Bloom.
Lifetimes ago. Yesterday.
On the Rue du Porche in Rochefort-en-Terre. Colombage buildings (half stone, half timber) centuries older than anything we have back home.
Flowers in nearly every window box. (I’m told the village is known for this.)
The air, a conspiracy of scents. The boulangerie, cafés. Spring. Masses of daisies and peonies wrapped in brown paper.
Her, in this dress, stepping out from an ancient door, arms full of baguette and bouquets.
I nearly trip over my own feet, blame it on the cobblestones.
Breathe, Peterman, breathe.
The Marguerite Dress (No. 7509). The story here begins and ends with marguerites (daisies). Outer and inner layers drape you deliciously in a silky viscose/cotton blend. Full, pleated skirt falls below knee. Sweetheart neckline at front, scoop neckline at back. Front and back princess seams and bust darts. Cap sleeves. Three covered shank buttons at front bodice. Invisible zipper at wearer’s left. Imported.
