Nevis, One June.

Nothing was ever as sweet as that first mango harvested fresh off the tree on Nevis, where at least 44 kinds of mangoes grow (or 200, if you ask the resident Mango Man).

I also had the best cigar of my life there, hand-rolled by a fellow named Arly who had one blue eye, one brown, and spoke four languages.

Even the sun seemed to chase superlatives from horizon to horizon.

Bought the most interesting shirt there, too.

Morning Market Shirt (No. J8181). The wide, relaxed V-neck collar is your first clue to the DNA of this shirt. Handsome decorative stitching steals the show, but reinforced shoulder seams make this a workhorse of a shirt. Three vast pockets across the front mean you can stash your gardening tools or harvest a half dozen avocados at the Montecito house and leave your hands free. One more pocket on each sleeve. Side vents and curved shirttail hem. Imported.
