Star Lady

If you haven’t felt transported lately, take a moment to search out film clips of any of Ann Miller’s tap dance numbers in On the Town. Go on, I’ll wait.

She was once clocked at 500 taps per minute, which granted her the absolute right to list her occupation as “Star Lady” on her passport application. (She did.)

Sure, no one will mistake your footwork for Ann’s, but we see no harm in giving the impression that you’re quicker on your feet than most.

It starts with the skirt. There’s some magic going on here, a swingy underlayer that keeps the bottom two tiers of extravagant fringe in perpetual motion, independent of the top layer. Metallic threads woven through catch every bit of light.

But the action isn’t all down there, is it? Ann knew how to draw the eye upward.

And so do you.

And we like to think we do too.

Star Lady Fringe Hem Skirt (No. 5800). Metallic sweater knit in multi-color stripe pattern. Pull-on style fitted skirt. Upper-calf length. Elasticized waist lined in black lace. Three times the fringe; exponentially more double takes. Imported.
