Upper Peninsula Woodsman Coat
The Woodsman's Coat.
It took a certain kind of man to log the white pine forests of the Upper Peninsula.
These north country legends had to be daring, fearless, muscle-bound.
The right gear played a part. Two single-bitted axes (one to get through the bark, the second to fell the tree) until the “misery whip” or crosscut saw came on the scene. Then sledge hammers and wedges.
What he wore mattered, too. Sturdy pants, flannel shirt, work boots, knit cap.
And a Mackinaw plaid coat, another north country legend in its own right.
Revered for its warmth, admired for its handsome workwear style.
Upper Peninsula Woodsman Coat (No. J7824). Thick poly/wool blend twill shell in an oversized plaid yarn-dye pattern. Reverse side is heavily brushed for a very cozy effect. Bound seam finishing. Four exterior patch-and-flap pockets. Hidden handwarmer pockets behind lower patch pockets, with corduroy inserts for durability. Black corozo buttons at center front and cuffs. Metal enamel-coated snaps at all pockets are reinforced. Vented button-adjustable cuffs. Lightweight but very warm. Quite substantial, rugged, handsome. Imported.
