1930s Racing Club Sweater
Details
The Club.
“Smokin’ Joe” Petrali took hairpin turns on dirt tracks and rode motorcycles up hills, sans helmet and with perfectly coiffed hair. He always looked as cool as a cucumber (and a bit like Bogart).
He lost half his lip in a horrifying crash that left him so damaged, death was a foregone conclusion. So, a young doctor was allowed to experiment on him and sew the lip back on. Long story short, Petrali was back on the track less than a year later.
In photographs, you’ll find him wearing a club sweater like this. For living fast, looking good, and combating the elements at high speeds.
1930s Racing Club Sweater (No. 7239). 100% superfine merino pullover, quarter-zip sweater that’s unexpectedly dashing with the collar turned down and expectedly statement-making with it zipped up (your neck is thoroughly protected). Ribbed cuffs and hem. Double-needle-stitched internal elbow patches for spills. Racing stripes at sleeves. Imported.
